Noah's Cube

Seven laws were given to the gentiles. These laws are fundamental to the universe. They are tied to the seven days of creation and to the seven emotional attributes. Everything that a gentile needs are contained in them. It is prohibited to add to them.

I have come to accept that these laws were given by Heaven to Moses for all of humanity. I have no logical reason for this. I simply know it to be so. The fabric of space and time was opened at Sinai. The echo of that event continues to this day.

Six of the laws are negative commandments. A negative commandment refers to something we are told not to do.Thou stall not kill and so forth. A negative commandment creates a barrier. There becomes a boundary that says "Stay on this side, do not cross." The boundary creates a sense of space. A place were the person belongs.

The gentile is given a space with six walls. Four sides, a top and bottom. One finds himself in a room, a cube. This is the space a gentile is commanded by Heaven to exist within.

The gentile has one and only one positive commandment. A positive commandment is something we are required to do. While the negative commandments create the boundaries of a room, positive commandments are often referred to the furnishings. The walls create the room and the furniture defines it's function.

The one positive commandment is to "establish courts of justice."

I sit in my court chair in an otherwise empty room thinking about what all this is about. What am I supposed to be doing? As i think about these things, the room begins to turn. This way and that way on a variety of axis. My inner sense realizes the room is out of balance. I try adjusting the location of my chair until the room achieves some harmony. Before I have a chance to enjoy the peace the walls rearrange themselves and I must work to achieve another balance. Feeling dizzy I look around just in time to notice the walls moving again.

Justice is to make things right. The seventh commandment is to bring harmony to the world that was created by the first six.

There are certain primary ways to order the six laws. According to the days of the week, the positions of the compass or the tree of life are some possible sequences. There are 720 possible combinations for the walls of a cube. To make it more interesting, it would be possible to overlay the combinations and create endless rooms. Six stones build 720 houses. 24 stones from three overlays would make 26289228958404672010899456000 houses and that is only the tip of the iceberg.

Our job as gentiles is to build this city. Our job is to make it plumb.

The seven Noahide commandments;

1) DO NOT COMMIT BLASPHEMY

2) DO NOT WORSHIP IDOLS

3) DO NOT COMMIT THEFT

4) DO NOT COMMIT MURDER

5) DO NOT COMMIT SEXUAL IMMORALITY

6) DO NOT EAT THE FLESH OF A LIVING ANIMAL

7) ESTABLISH COURTS OF JUSTICE

  1. I hope to follow this with posts concerning the concepts of stones creating houses as well as the concept of overlays.

  2. This teaching describes the concept of finding balance in a cube. Although gentiles do not physically shake the lulav, it has everything to do with us.
